ABC of Indiana/Kentucky Recognizes Legacy Members at Elkhart Facility Dedication
ELKHART, IN., September 11, 2026 — Associated Builders & Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky (ABC) recognized six longstanding members as Legacy Members on Wednesday, September 9, at its Elkhart Facility Dedication ceremony. Legacy Members were recognized not only for their membership duration, but also for their commitment and support of the ABC apprenticeship training that takes place at the recently remodeled facility acquired in 2024.
Members recognized included Steinberger Construction, Inc. (54-year member); Beer & Slabaugh, Inc. (51-year member); Ancon Construction Co., Inc. (50-year member); DJ Construction Co., Inc. (43-year member); Easterday Construction Co., Inc. (43-year member); and Majority Builders, Inc. (36-year member).
“Congratulations to the loyal ABC Northwest Council members on the building dedication today. And a special shoutout to the Legacy Members being honored—upon their shoulders this building stands,” shared JR Gaylor, ABC President/CEO, who could not be in attendance.
In addition to the Legacy Members, Kevin Berger of Easterday Construction and Rick Slagle of Majority Builders were recognized for their many years of serving with distinction on the ABC Board of Directors.
Congressman Rudy Yakym, along with State Representatives Doug Miller and Jake Teshka, joined in the festivities. Congressman Yakym addressed attendees, praising ABC for its thoughtful moment of silence honoring the 25th anniversary of 9/11. He underscored the importance of merit shop principles and the growing strength of apprenticeship programs in the construction industry. Yakym also highlighted Elkhart as the nation’s “manufacturing capital,” a testament to its enduring economic vitality.
