Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky is offering a 1 year Welding Intensive course which provides foundational knowledge and skills to students interested in pursuing a Welding career. This course prepares students to successfully pass a variety of AWS certifications. ABC of IN/KY is an approved educational institution by the American Welding Society.
Course Details
- 2 semester course starting in September and ending in April
- Class is Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday from 5-9 p.m.
- Class is a mix of welding theory, welding safety, blueprint reading, machine maintenance,
and hands-on lab experience - The course educates students on the following processes:
- Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
- Cutting (Plasma Arc, Oxy/Acetylene, Air Arc)
- Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
- Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
- Within each process students will receive training on:
- 1G flat groove
- 2G horizontal groove
- 3G vertical up groove
- 4G overhead groove
- Within each process, students will be provided with test levels appropriate to their aptitude or employer requirements.
- Students requiring additional practice or specialized testing can attend “Open Lab” hours held every Thursday from 5-9 p.m. for individual instruction or assistance. This is simply a resource for students and is not required.
- Costs:
- Member: $2,200
- Non-member: $2,900
- Included in the course fees are PPE and test fees*
- If students are required to test on a special material per the request of the employer, additional fees may be incurred
